Double Dormer Loft conversion,Portsmouth

We converted this loft in baffins into a large guest bedroom with an ensuite and juliet balcony. To ensure the exterior of the conversion was as sympathetic as possible to the character of the road we built a pitched roof front dormer, this had the added bonus of creating some interesting shapes internally. Combined with creating an alcove between the chimneys to situate the bed complete with built in reading lights. A space that you would be happy to have even the most important guest to stay!

We retain some of the loft storage space either side of the front dormer, converting your loft doesn’t have to mean you lose all of that vital storage. In fact it can make for much more usable storage as in this case. Ordnarial we would create bespoke built in wardrobes but in this case it was not required as the customer did not want her guest overstaying their welcome! In a space like this it would be hard not to.

This conversion also included an ensuite featuring a large walk in shower and vanity sink and toilet combination offering lots of built in storage. We finished the bathroom by tiling floor to ceiling making it very easy to keep clean and looking sharp.

We completely renewed the roof as part of the work. Removing the original slates and replacing them with concrete roof tiles. We opted for a grey tile and a terracotta ridge tile, making the roof look as original as possible. It’s always our aim to keep our conversion looking as simpithtic to the surronding area as possible.

It’s our number one priority to keep your house dry at all times! We do lots of preparation work before pushing the dormers out. This means we can build a dormer in a single day making sure they are fully watertight as quickly as possible. We built the timber frame within the loft space and once the weather allowed we made a hole in the roof and pushed it in place!
